Thank you so much for taking the most amazing photos of our big day, they were so natural. You captured parts of the wedding day which we will hold in our hearts forever.” - Becky

My name’s Daniel and I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in the Midlands. Thanks for checking out my website!

A quick bit about me- I enjoy spending time with my family, particularly trips down to the Big Smoke of London or a gentle meander around the Cotswolds. For my sins I’m a West Bromwich Albion fan and the least said about that the better! I have done my fair share of mountain walking over the years, completing the Three Peaks Challenge in 2014. I have an open taste in music but particularly bands like London Grammar, and like most people I’ve binged on TV programmes such as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and Peaky Blinders.

I got into photography in 2012. It started out as just a few casual snaps on my phone camera but before long I realised I had a passion for it and started taking it more seriously. My wife very kindly bought me my first mirrorless camera, a Fuji X-T20, and my journey really began. I learned all about composition techniques and how to make good use of light but more importantly- how to capture the ‘moment’. Around this time I stumbled upon the genre of street photography and all of a sudden, photographing candid moments in real time became a hobby. I had discovered documentary photography. All the composition techniques such as positioning and framing tied in with a new-found ability to watch a scene and anticipate a moment. Very much so a case of being in the right place at the right time. In 2019 I had my work featured in an exhibition called ‘Birmingham Now, Before Then’. I took a photograph at a friend’s wedding, as a guest, that got a lot of love and I felt like I had my head turned. What better event could there be to capture as a documentary photographer, than a wedding with all it’s emotion and sense of occasion? A day to truly document as a story- the preparation, the dresses, the hair and make-up, the nerves, the cars, the venues, the grandeur of the ceremony, the glamour of the guests, the happy tears, the cheeky toddlers, the flowers, the food and the drink- not to mention the dancing like nobody is watching!

My sole objective is to capture those genuine moments that are just full of raw emotion, so that you still feel that lump in your throat when you look back on them in years to come.

Documentary photography is perfect for those couples who want their big day to flow naturally without distraction. I won’t get you to force those smiles or pose awkwardly- my style is subtle and discreet so that you can get on with enjoying your big day. Whether it’s the tender glances, the warm embraces, the raucous laughter or the crazy dancing- it’s the candid moments everyone wants to remember. It’s just me and my camera- no excessive equipment. From preparation before the ceremony right through until the party, I can’t wait to share your day with you. I’ll deliver your complete collection on a USB stick within 4-6 weeks but just so you can share the occasion with friends/family or social media- I’ll send you 5 edited images the day after your wedding.

So now I’ve told you my story… get in touch and tell me yours!
